Changelog
What's new in every version of ModusPad.
ModusPad 1.4.3
- Updated the app icon.
ModusPad 1.4.2
- Smoother arranging. Drag & drop is calmer and it's clearer where an app will land.
- New apps. Right-click an app in «New» for the same actions as in the grid.
ModusPad 1.4.1
- Small interface improvements.
ModusPad 1.4
- Profiles run your shortcuts. Add shortcuts from the Shortcuts app to a profile: they run when the profile turns on, and others when it turns off. Lights, a playlist, a focus timer — the rest of your setup follows the profile.
- Settings, redesigned. A cleaner grouped look in light and dark, a narrower window and clearer icons. Drag a row by its dots to reorder apps and shortcuts.
- Hidden apps in one list. Profile › App visibility › Manage lists every app with search, a Visible / Hidden filter and checkboxes. A page that hiding leaves empty goes away.
- Backups keep hidden apps. A layout backup now remembers which apps were hidden, and Restore asks before it replaces your layout.
- More ways to open. fn+F4 no longer needs Accessibility access. The notch can open the launcher like a hot corner, with or without a key. Pick one trackpad gesture: pinch or swipe down.
ModusPad 1.3
- Your profile, right in the launcher. The button next to search now shows the active profile. Click it to switch profiles, add a new one or open Settings — without leaving the launcher.
- The Dock stays with you. The launcher now opens under the Dock and hides the menu bar, like Launchpad did. The Dock stays on top and clickable, and a click in it closes the launcher.
- New apps wait in «New». Apps you install are no longer placed into the grid or into smart folders on their own. They wait in «New» at the top until you drag them into the grid or add them all with one click. Smart folders now pick from the apps already in your grid.
- Every copy is its own tile. Two copies of the same app — say, two versions of an app — each get a tile that opens that copy. Copies with the same name show the version or folder under the name.
- A shortcut says it worked. Switching profiles with a shortcut now shows the same note under the menu bar icon as an automatic switch.
- Profiles that switch by themselves, explained. A profile with no rules now shows what rules do and offers three ready ones: working hours, your display and a Focus.
ModusPad 1.2
- Icons that fit your screen. A new Auto icon size picks the largest icons your display holds for the columns and rows you chose, and the names grow with them.
- Recents and Most Used, in one strip. Instead of side columns, a small glass strip above the page dots shows the apps you opened last and the ones you use most. The grid keeps the full width.
- Sort from the launcher. Right-click empty space › Sort shows how this profile is ordered and changes it on the spot.
- A new Gradient background. A soft slate-to-plum gradient joins the background choices. It also shows whenever your desktop picture can't be read, instead of a flat grey.
- A calmer dark mode. In dark mode, Settings and the setup now have a hint of blue and the ModusPad accent instead of flat greys.
- Clearer hide mark. The mark on an icon while you arrange is now a crossed-out eye: it hides the app from this profile and never deletes it.
- Smoother arranging. A click on empty space first clears a selection. A renamed folder shows its new name at once. An icon and its name stay together, centred in their cell on any screen.
ModusPad 1.1
- Know why the profile changed. When a rule switches the profile, a small note under the menu bar icon says which profile turned on and why — "Work is on · Work Focus turned on". Turn it off in Settings › General.
- One click to the launcher. Clicking the menu bar icon now opens the launcher; right-click (or Control-click) shows the menu.
- Move several apps at once. Drag any app of a selection and the others come along as one stack — into a folder, onto another app to make a new one, or to a new place in the grid.
- New apps, out of the way. Newly installed apps wait in a small capsule beside the search field instead of a row across the screen. Drag one where you want it, or add them all.
- A launcher that feels right. It fades in and out smoothly, the search field and settings button sit on Liquid Glass, and swiping between pages follows your fingers and settles naturally.
- Clearer marks. The hide button and the copy count sit exactly on the icon's corner, and the copy count is easier to see.
- A friendlier first run. The setup now shows profiles and automations first, and how to arrange apps, hide them and use smart folders.
ModusPad 1.0.1
- Smoother page scrolling. Swiping between launcher pages now follows your fingers frame by frame — no more stutter at the start of a swipe.
- A bigger grid on a bigger display. The grid is sized to fit your smallest display. On a larger external display, icons and their names now scale up to match, so the grid no longer looks small there. Your settings stay as they are.
ModusPad 1.0
The first release
macOS 26 took Launchpad away: no pages, no folders, no order of your own. ModusPad brings the full-screen launcher back — and goes further: your Mac changes with what you're doing.
- Your Launchpad, back. A full-screen grid with pages, folders, search and drag & drop. Bring over your old Launchpad layout in one click.
- Profiles. Work, Personal, Gaming — each with its own layout, its own hidden apps and the apps it opens.
- Automations. Profiles switch by themselves when a Focus turns on, a display connects or the time comes.
- Smart folders. Folders that fill themselves by your rules: name, category, version, dates, launches.
- Open it your way. A hotkey, F4, a hot corner or a trackpad gesture.
- Native and private. Built in Swift for macOS 26 and 27, in English, Deutsch, Français and 日本語. No account, no tracking.
